Services and Tuition Options
Every learner’s circumstances, strengths and support needs are different. I provide flexible, personalised SEND tuition for children and young people through a range of arrangements, including after-school tuition, home education support, community-based learning and EOTAS packages.
Tuition is carefully planned around the individual learner’s current attainment, interests, communication style, sensory needs and aspirations. My aim is to create a calm, trusting learning experience in which each learner feels understood, capable and able to make meaningful progress.
After-School Tuition
After-school tuition provides focused individual support alongside a learner’s school education.
Sessions may strengthen confidence in maths, reading, phonics and literacy, revisit areas of difficulty or provide opportunities to learn through approaches better suited to the individual. Tuition is carefully paced, recognising that many children and young people may feel tired or dysregulated after the school day.
Activities are therefore designed to be purposeful, achievable and engaging, with emotional wellbeing remaining central to the learning experience.
Home Tuition
Home tuition allows learning to take place within a familiar environment where the learner may feel more comfortable, secure and ready to engage.
Sessions are individually planned and may combine academic learning, communication, emotional regulation, practical activities and life skills. Visual supports, predictable routines, movement breaks and interest-led approaches can be incorporated according to the learner’s profile.
Home tuition may support children and young people who are home educated, temporarily unable to attend school or who benefit from additional personalised teaching outside a traditional classroom environment.
EOTAS Tuition Packages
I provide personalised tuition as part of Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) packages for children and young people whose educational needs are being met outside a school setting.
Programmes may incorporate academic learning, communication and interaction, emotional regulation, community access and the development of practical life skills. Learning is carefully structured around outcomes identified for the individual, while remaining flexible and responsive to their readiness, interests and changing needs.
Collaborative working is an important part of my approach. With appropriate consent, I maintain regular communication with families and relevant professionals, sharing observations, progress and effective strategies. Where required, I contribute to planning and review discussions and adapt tuition in response to agreed outcomes, helping to create a coordinated and consistent approach across home, education and wider support.
Community-Based Learning
Learning within the community provides meaningful opportunities for children and young people to practise skills in real-life situations.
Sessions may include visiting local shops, following planned routes, developing road-safety awareness, using money, making choices and becoming more confident in public spaces. Community activities are carefully planned and risk assessed, with preparation and visual support provided where appropriate.
The learner’s emotional and physical safety remains central, and activities are introduced gradually at a pace that feels manageable and achievable.
Professionally Referred Tuition
I accept tuition referrals from education providers, local services and other professionals seeking individualised support for a child or young person.
Tuition may form part of a wider educational package or provide focused intervention during a period of transition, reduced attendance or difficulty accessing conventional provision.
Clear communication and collaborative working help ensure that tuition remains purposeful, consistent and responsive to the learner’s agreed priorities.
Online Tuition
Online tuition provides a flexible way for learners to access personalised SEND support from the comfort and familiarity of their own home. Sessions are thoughtfully planned around each learner’s current attainment, interests, strengths and individual learning profile.
I use interactive activities, visual supports and carefully selected digital resources to make online learning engaging, structured and purposeful. Tuition may support maths, reading, phonics, literacy and wider individual learning priorities, with regular opportunities to pause, revisit learning and take movement or regulation breaks where appropriate.
Suitability is considered collaboratively with each family, taking account of the learner’s age, communication, attention, regulation and ability to engage safely online. A suitable device, reliable internet connection and quiet working space are required. A parent or responsible adult must remain available within the home throughout the session.
Online tuition is available to families both within and beyond my usual travelling area. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss whether online tuition could be a positive and appropriate option for your child.
Small-Group Tuition
I am exploring opportunities to introduce supportive small-group maths tuition during the coming year, with a particular focus on developing number sense.
Sessions will help learners strengthen their understanding of number relationships, build fluency with number facts and explore flexible calculation strategies through practical resources, visual representations and carefully structured activities.
Groups will be thoughtfully organised around compatible learning needs, current attainment and confidence levels. The emphasis will be on creating a calm, inclusive environment where learners can develop mathematical confidence, share ideas and experience success alongside others.
Further information will be shared as these opportunities become available. Families are welcome to register their interest through the tuition enquiry form.
A Personalised Approach
Tuition does not follow a single fixed programme. Following an initial conversation, I consider the learner’s strengths, interests, current attainment, preferred ways of communicating and any barriers affecting their engagement with learning.
Sessions may draw upon structured teaching, visual systems, practical resources, digital programmes, interest-led activities and community experiences. Approaches are reviewed and adapted as the learner develops, helping tuition remain relevant, responsive and appropriately challenging.
